Fair and Equitable?

That is the latest requirement of Dr. Ford before she will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Dr. Ford is wanting "fair and equitable terms" to ensure her safety (among other things). There are a variety of issues going on here. One is that in this day and age, someone waiting 35 years to state that you were a victim of sexual assault is not going to go over well.
Everything has become so political.
There is no need for people to lose their minds. You do not even have to delve into the impact assault has on a woman. You simply look at the inconsistencies in the accounts. Then you can look at Dr. Ford's actions.
" Dr. Ford sought to tell her story, in confidence,"
But she hired a lawyer. She paid for a polygraph in advance of a FBI investigation, in advance of testimony before the Senate.
You have to ask why. I am NOT a lawyer - but this goes to her motivation. The hiring of a lawyer should have been in response to Democrat Dianne Feinstein leaking the letter that she wrote to the media.
“I can’t say that everything is truthful. I don’t know.” - Dianne Feinstein
Feinstein leaked the letter, but her initial reaction was that of honest skepticism before she redacted it for political reasons.
This whole thing is not about being "fair and equitable." It is about politics - and that should be scary as hell. Did something happen 35 years ago? I have no idea. But if Dr. Ford is willing to come forward - whatever her motivation is; then she should testify about it.
That is due process for Kavanaugh. A chance to confront his accuser. That is "fair and equitable."
Dr. Ford should be able to testify without the vitriol she has said she been the subject of since this whole process began. That is "fair and equitable" to her. She should be able to speak and confront her "attacker."
Senator Susan Collins of Maine (a probable swing vote) is even receiving death threats. Why is this even happening?
It is supposed to be a hearing. It is supposed to be an investigation. It should be treated as such - not an online witch hunt.
That would be "fair and equitable."
