Parkland, Columbine, Virginia Tech...

If you have watched the news, you know what those locations have in common. Of course, there are so many more to list. As a former teacher, the idea of someone coming into a school to murder children is clearly a disturbing thought (to put it diplomatically) that is beyond comprehension.

But as I said here, the clarion call for #GunReformNow was sounded before any of the victims from Parkland were even identified - much less properly buried and mourned.

The debate has intensified to the point of lunacy as you can see from the following tweet from Joe Scarborough of MSNBC.

I had to respond to that nonsense because there is no ad. There is no incitement to violence. He is being completely dishonest as this is nothing more than trying to push an agenda.

The part that always confuses me is in the aftermath of a tragedy, liberals push the same nonsense every time - "common sense gun reform", "ban assault weapons", "background checks", "gun culture", the NRA is evil, and on and on and on. The tragedies will stop only if....

Yet, another "law" will not change anything.

The complete inability of liberals to accept the facts - the rest of us call 'reality' - means nothing will actually change. A person with the intent to kill will do so by any means necessary - even in a school setting. See here and here just for two examples.

So, why are we once again having the same "conversation?" Why are we waiting for the politicians to "solve" this problem?

It is time to start solving the problem with something that would be easy to actually implement. The number of homeless veterans is somewhere between 40,000 and 50,000 depending on your source.

The one thing you can safely assume is that any veteran who has served in our armed forces was properly trained in the use of a firearm. They are also trained in dealing with difficult - potentially violent - situations better than most Americans can even imagine.

Then you also need to understand the mindset of a veteran. They will put every member of their unit ahead of their own well-being without question or hesitation. What do you think they will do for children?

Since the politicians in Washington, DC have no intention of actually solving the problem, it is incumbent upon us to solve the problem. Put the veterans to work. Give them what they need to do the job they are better trained for than anyone else you know.

Just think about it. Thousands of schools will have the protection and security they need, veterans will have the jobs they need, and our children will be safe again.

Why hasn't someone in DC proposed this? You can't win an election if you don't have someone to blame.

The author writes -

"The part that always confuses me is in the aftermath of a tragedy, liberals push the same nonsense every time - "common sense gun reform", "ban assault weapons", "background checks", "gun culture", the NRA is evil, and on and on and on. The tragedies will stop only if.... "

Also confusing in the aftermath of mass shootings is that the same number or more die from gun violence every weekend in (gun free) Chicago without even an honorable mention in the liberal outrage catalog. AND while we're wringing our collective hands over the deaths of children, the number of deaths of unborn children by abortion is shocking but that doesn't make it onto the liberal outrage…
