The Need for Violence

"Women are the social force keeping men from eclipsing into savagery."

I remember reading that quote somewhere and want to attribute it to Andrew Jackson. However, I can not be certain. But it does have a point to it.

There is a need for the threat of violence in a society - that is actually used if the situation warrants it. It is one of the main reasons we have order, we have rules, as people are clearly aware that there is punishment for violating those rules.

The problem is that "people" - who these people are is beyond me - think that this mindset is old, archaic, and basically barbaric. "We are a civilized society." is what they would tell you. The question I would pose is - how did we get to that point? Better yet - how have we managed to stay there?

Just recently, I was with a woman who lamented how throughout her second marriage that she never felt she had "manly protection." Later that night, we were leaving a bar after a couple of drinks when we were startled by another man who seemed to appear out of nowhere. I immediately stood between him and her - out of natural instinct. I was ready to fight, but the perceived threat of violence was enough to deescalate the situation.

A question for women - how many of you do not feel "safe" when you go out alone? How many of you still do not feel "safe" when you are out with your man? Or a man in general?

As I read here, society is "pussifying" men. For those of you who said you did not feel "safe." This is the reason why.

This was a recent event you can read about here. Then there is another instance of this behavior. However, the result was entirely different.

The threat of violence was actually backed up with violence. The one lesson anyone with a brain will learn is that sexual assault in Murmansk, Russia is not tolerated. (They did not need the police.)

"... gave them a beating they will remember..."

The men there - real men in my book - protected the women, and I guarantee you that not all of the men there were "with" the women who were being assaulted. There is a need - both real and perceived - for violence in a society. You have to have it. When violence is used appropriately, society will support you. The police did not charge the Russian men for doing what was right.
