The One Thing About Donald Trump...

I will be the first to say that Donald Trump was not my first choice during the Republican primary, but now - I am glad that he won.

The one thing people need to realize is that Trump is not a politician - he's a businessman. Unlike every other politician in Washington, D.C., Trump is not in it for the money. Most people seem to forget -
He is already worth billions - let me correct myself - BILLIONS of dollars.
He had to take a "pay cut" to become President. So, this is clearly not about the money. Then why would he do it? Serve as President? In this age of jaded political cynicism, the one thing no one thinks is - "For Love of Country"? But what else makes sense. In can't be for the power - he probably wielded just about as much power as an international businessman.
The part that also infuriates most politicians in Washington, D.C. right now is that he is indeed a businessman. He is not focused on keeping his job but on solving problems. It is indeed about deal making, cause that is how politics (and business) works, but it is also about solutions.
As I wrote about here, illegal immigration is a complex problem. DACA and/or The DREAM Act will not solve anything on its own. It would only emboldened more illegal immigrants to come to the United States with the expectation that they would be allowed to stay.
So, as a true businessman, Trump revoked the DACA executive order and then gave Congress six months to come up with a solution. He made his decision and then gave the Democrats a chance to respond. How did they respond - shut down the government over illegal immigrants.

Trump has the leverage and he knows it. Now, if Democrats want DACA, they have to actually negotiate, and it will be on Trump's terms. He will get the wall and it will be built.
That is what I hope is the first step toward actually SOLVING a problem.
Maybe Bernie Sanders is right when he constantly tweets out that a political revolution is coming. I just don't think he realizes that it may be one where politicians go back to being civil servants as opposed to career politicians who are more interested in keeping their jobs, the money, and the trappings of power.
And Trump would be the one to lead it.
