When Ideology Reigns...

Common sense is already dead. This is the new norm in this day and age.

Case in point - Dianne Feinstein is up for re-election and it seems she is running into an issue with her campaign.

California Democratic Party doesn't endorse Feinstein re-election bid

But why? Is she unelectable? Can't be that, can it?

She is a five-term senator who is now running for a sixth term. So, the chances of her losing an election to a Republican in the state of California - would require California to sink into the sea and she would still win.

What on Earth would cause the Democratic Party to do something as stupid, especially from a PR standpoint, as not endorse Feinstein for re-election?

Ideology.

It seems that Feinstein is not progressive enough for California Democrats.

"...progressive State Sen. Kevin de Leon...got 54 percent of the vote, compared to 37 percent for the more moderate Feinstein..."

Now, if the Republicans actually had a chance to win this election, then this is a gold mine. But they don't.

Ideology is trumping politics here. Because the reason Feinstein is not being endorsed is - she is not progressive enough. She is seen as out-of-touch with California voters.

Blind faith in an ideology never works. There is no example in the history of an ideology that actually works. Feinstein is going to lose (unless de Leon finishes in third) because of her unwillingness to adhere to the progressive ideology such as -

  • Free healthcare

  • Free college education

  • #Resist movement

  • Trump impeachment

Then the real issue is that none of these things will ever happen. It is that plain and simple. Because if you look closely at the current progressive agenda, it is the same 'agenda' that the Occupy Wall Street protesters put out a while back.

The problem is that Obama did implement some of those things and they failed on a spectacular level (ex.: green jobs).

Only an ideologue would think it is a great thing to do the same disastrous thing again.

I would have to agree with you. There is a point where it has to be clear to everyone that the representative is not representing but enjoying the life of luxury that politics buys.

I think a movement is afoot on both Democrat and Republican sides to kick out all the oldies. Feinstein is 84 and she is getting doddery. Remember recently when she put out information to the press that she shouldn't have and she blamed cold medicine? She sounded as nutty as Pelosi and looked as old as Mother Goose. Pelosi is another one that won't make another round. I think secretly they're plotting to get rid of her because they know she's already lost democrats the mid terms. Wait till the Republican ads come out showing her dumb "crumb" statements, constantly calling Trump "Bush", forgetting her words and zoning out mid sentence, and her prune face at the State of the…
